Kozhikode is also known as Calicut, isa city in the Indian state of Kerala in the southern India on the Malabarcoast. Kozhikode is the third largest city in Kerala and is a part of thesecond largest urban agglomeration in Kerala with a metropolitan. The city islies about 380 km north of the state capital Thiruvanathpuram. Kozhikodedistrict once the capital powerful Zamorins and prominent trade and commerce centre, Kozhikode was the mostimportant region of the  Malabar in thedays gone by.  Today, lush greencountrysides , serene beaches, historic sites, wildlife sanutaries, rivers,hills, a unique culture and warm , friendly ambience make Kozhikode a populardestination. Kozhikode district found a place in the world history with thediscovery of sea route to India in 1948 by the portuguese navigator Vasco DaGama. Vasco Da Gama landed at the kapped sea shore with three vessels and 170men.
