Agartala is the capital of the Indian state of Tripura and is the second largest city in North- east India after Guwahati, both in Municipal area and population. Agartala is competent o two words Agar, a kind of oil valuable perfume tree, Tale, a store of house. The city is governed by the Agartala Municipal Corporation. Agartala lies on the bank of Haora River and is located 2 km from the Bangladesh border.  Agartala is situated in a plain along the Haora River, through the city also extends to the low lying hills on its northern parts. Agartala has monsoon influenced humid subtropical climate with large amounts of rain almost all the year. The city experiences long, hot and wet summer. Lasting from April to October. As mentioned rain is very common in the zone with the city sometimes remains or can be found flooded in the rainy season. The river Haora flows through the city and remains flooded with water during the time of monsoon.
