Gopalganj  is one of the administrative headquarters of the  district in the Indian state of Bihar. The district headquarter is the town of Gopalganj, and the district is a part of Saran division. Major language is spoken are Bhojpuri and Hindi. An ancient state of Mallayas serves as the frontier of Gopalganj.  In pre historic time, Gopalganj was part of Nepal, up to the bank of the Suryu River which bound Siwan district on south of it. Siwan means the boundary – the southern boundary of Nepal kingdom. It became an independent district on 1973. The old Saran district included the present distict of Saran, Siwan and Gopalganj. There are three sugar mills, Bharat Sugar Mills, Sasa Musa Works Ltd. , Vishnu Sagar works Ltd. And one wine factory.
