Palakkad is the gateway to Kerala due to thepresence of the Palakkad Gap, in the Western Ghats. Palakkad is a large cityand Municipality in the state of Kerala in Southern India. It is aadministrative headquarters of Palakkad district. Palakkad is the seventhlargest city in the Kerala lies near the Palghat Gap. Malayalam is thegenerally spoken language. The city is situated about 350 km North of the statecapital Thiruvananthapuram and 54 km south west of Coimbatore. The town isblessed with many small medium rivers, which are tributaries of the BharathapuzhaRiver and the number of dams in Palakkad district, the largest Malapuzha dam is12 km from Palakkad town.
