Panchkula is a planned city in Panchkula district in Haryana. Panchkula was formed on 15th August 1995 as the 17th district of Haryana state in India. Panchkula city is the headquarters of this district. It is a satellite city of the Union Territory of Chandigarh and is part of Chandigarh Capital Region. The city is surrounded by Himachal Pradesh in the north and east, Punjab and Chandigarh Union Territory in the west and by Ambala district in the south and east. Panchkula shares borders with Chandigarh, Solan, Ajitgarh, and Ambala districts.
