Bihar Sharif is the district headquartersof Nalanda district in the Indian state of Bihar. The city name owes it to its Buddhistorigin. On their travels to Nalanda University, Buddhist monks and scholars hada last stop in Vihars here, and city as called Vihars shree. The ancientodantapuri university as located here, an important center of the learning ofBuddhism. City still has remains of old Buddhist heritage, which can be foundin broken idols of Buddha and Mahavira in Nalanda museum and several temples.Nalanda college in Bihar Sharif  andgarhpar locality are the areas here monastery as located.
